Now Accepting Exhibition Proposals!

Gibran Studio & Gallery is accepting proposals for exhibitions that will use the entire gallery space. If interested, please submit the following:

Exhibition Proposal Procedures
  • Proposal Statement, including title, dates, and artists to be included.
  • Personal artist statement for all the artists to be included. (May include resume, press, etc, as applicable.)
  • Examples of work to be shown. (digital preferred, slides also accepted) Note: The examples submitted do not necessarily need to be included in the exhibition. They will be used as a guideline to check professionalism and quality of work.
  • Basic layout of how the work will be displayed. (See gallery dimensions page.)
  • Alternate dates in case of space availability.
  • We may suggest a combined show if we receive proposals that compliment each other.
  • Deliver or mail proposals to Gibran Studio & Gallery, Attn: Carly Gibran.

Please be aware of the following:

  • For each show, the artist(s) will be required to pay for the cost of the show although we will handle all the details such as press publicity, design and mailing of postcards to our targeted mailing list of patrons as well as serving wine and food at the opening. For food, wine, lighting, postcards and postage, we ask that the artist(s) contribute $700 which is our cost with the gallery doing all the above. The cost is the same, no matter the number of artists included.
  • We distribute 500 postcards. If the artist(s) desire additional postcards, they will be asked to pay an additional fee.
  • Delivery and pick up of work is the responsibility of the artist(s).
  • We will gladly hang work to be exhibited, but artists will be asked to assist if the work is untraditional or extremely large.
  • Gibran Studio & Gallery will not be held responsible for damaged or stolen artwork. We have never had an incident, but do not have insurance for the art, as it is constantly changing, causing the value to be insured to change.
  • All shows will be up for at least one month, but may be up longer depending on scheduling.
  • 30% of all sales will be retained to help cover the facilities costs.

To drop off proposals, or if more information is needed, please contact us at:

Sara Steele's Inspirations

Some Sources of Inspiration:

To quote Rob Brezsny, author of PRONOIA IS THE ANTIDOTE FOR PARANOIA: How the Whole World Is Conspiring to Shower You with Blessings, I endorse these because I like them. They're not advertisements, and I get no kickbacks.

ODE Magazine

If you're not familiar with ODE, I highly recommend it. You can visit on the web at ">> .

Like "Yes!" magazine, it is filled with information about positive changes and change makers the world over, and is a good antidote to the evening news.

This Magazine devotes a page to readers who write in about a book, film or CD that has inspired them. If either of my books has been an inspiration to you, it would be great if you could send some words about it to Thanks in advance, and if you feel like cc-ing me at , that's fine too! ;-)

Jan Phillips Museletter

If you're not familiar with Jan Phillips' Museletter, at " , it's another great source of inspiration.

You can earn a free copy of her new book by arranging a Jan Phillips interview on one of your local radio talk shows. Direct them to for all the press info they need or email them the above link to hear her worldtalk radio interview.

Hope these help inspire your day!

Sara Steele's Painted Elephant!

Dear Friends,

After spending much of August up on ladders in a maintenance bay (courtesy of the Sisters of Saint Joseph) I finished painting the "Exuberant Elephant".

The elephant is 11 feet tall, and is not a political commentary. :-)

It is now standing outside of the Borders in Chestnut Hill, where it will remain until being auctioned off Nov. 18th to benefit the Philadelphia Zoo and the local community.

My dream is to have the elephant purchased by a person or group of people, and donated to Children's Hospital or St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, so it can reside in a public space and cheer kids up.

Please pass the word if you know of anyone who'd be interested in making such a gift. For further details and information about the AbZOOlutely auction, call the Zoo Staff at (215) 247-6696 or email a bid to
